History of the Historical Society
The Town of Sullivan Historical Society was founded in 1975.
The Society currently maintains a museum located in the former Rome State Graded School and also maintains the former Evangelical United Brethren Church. Both of these buildings are located in Rome. The Historical Society is a member of the Wisconsin Council for Local History and is affiliated with Wisconsin Historical Society in Madison
The museum in the school consists of 4 large classrooms filled with historical displays and items donated by or on loan from local residents. The museum depicts life as it once was and gives the public a glimpse as how life was without all of our modern conveniences. The purpose of the Society is to preserve local history and artifacts as well as educate young and old alike and get them interested in our heritage.
